Cruise With Confidence on Royal Caribbean During Covid-19: A Personal Account

Recently our own Rob and Lisa Hale embarked on the Royal Caribbean ship Symphony of the Seas out of Miami, Florida on a trip to Saint Martin, Saint Thomas, and CocoCay Bahamas. Their personal account of Covid-19 protocols and ports of call is an excellent guide to safe sailing in 2021. With Royal Caribbean ships back on the seas, they have spared no expense in creating a safe and enjoyable cruise experience for all ages as we transition back to our pre-pandemic travel routines. Whether you are a first-time cruiser or a seasoned veteran, you can rest assured that Royal Caribbean has your travel needs covered.

Covid-19 Protocols Onboard

Currently, Royal Caribbean requires all passengers ages 12 and up to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to sailing as well as a negative Covid test 48 hours prior to departure. Children under 12 who are not eligible to be vaccinated require proof of a negative test as well. Upon check-in at the port, vaccine cards and Covid test results are checked 3 times before boarding the ship. In the past, check-in has been more flexible in terms of timing, now when you check-in online prior to your cruise, you pick a time to board and that is the time you are expected to arrive. In their stateroom, Rob and Lisa were provided 2 masks in case you needed extra, Royal Caribbean also provided a small bottle of sanitizer in every stateroom as well as sanitizer stations in all public areas of the ship including shops, theatre, restaurants, and lounges. The current capacity on the Symphony of the Seas is 30%, which is excellent if you prefer a cruise that is less crowded. This allows for easier access to pool chairs, shows, activities, and restaurants! Masks are required in indoor public areas of the ship unless you are actively eating or drinking. Masks are also required on Royal Caribbean excursion transportation including buses. You are not required to wear a mask in your stateroom or on the pool decks. The Royal Caribbean crew is masked at all times and is also tested multiple times during the sailing. Test results for the crew are then announced over the PA system onboard. Social distancing marks remain 6 feet apart on the floors and you are served in the Windjammer buffet instead of serving yourself. All in all, Rob and Lisa felt very safe on this Symphony of the Seas sailing and have booked more cruises on other ships in the near future!

Port Excursions

It is always recommended to book shore excursions directly through Royal Caribbean for both safety and security purposes. On Saint Martin, Rob and Lisa enjoyed a double-decker bus tour around the island which included stops to Toppers Rum Factory, a cheese factory, an airplane beach (where guests can see airplanes taking off and landing right above your head!), a scenic overlook and the division of the French and Dutch portions of the island monument. This tour was full of photo opportunities with the most picturesque scenery and some delicious food and drinks!

In Saint Thomas, Rob and Lisa braved a Sky Ride to the top of Paradise Point to take in the beautiful ocean and island views. At over 700 feet above sea level, the views can’t be beat! The transportation to the Sky Ride required masks as well and it is a short drive away. A wristband is provided for this excursion and you can ride the Sky Ride multiple times per day if you like.

Explore the views in St. Thomas

On the Royal Caribbean private island of CocoCay in the Bahamas, Rob and Lisa enjoyed both the “thrill” and “chill” sides of the island. The “thrill” side boasts the tallest waterslide in North America and also a large helium balloon that will take you 450 feet above the crystal clear waters. The waterpark and balloon ride comes at an additional charge, although there is no charge to enjoy other things CocoCay has to offer. On the “chill” side, Rob and Lisa enjoyed the beach, lazy river, and swimming pools with swim-up bars. Being that this is a Royal Caribbean private island, food is included on CocoCay as well as drinks with a cruise beverage package.

The Ultimate Guide for Planning a Memorable Disney Vacation

The happiest place on earth, Walt Disney World Resort spans over 40 square miles, making it almost as big as San Francisco, California. It encompasses four theme parks, two water parks, over 25 hotels, and 150 restaurants. It is also home to hundreds of shops, rides, tourist attractions, and shows. With so much to do, planning a trip to Disney World can be overwhelming.

Nearly 156 million people visited Disney theme parks worldwide before the pandemic. With things gradually returning to normal following the vaccine drives and lifted travel restrictions, now is the time to take a long-overdue trip with your family and friends.

So, if you’re planning a trip to Florida, continue reading our ultimate guide to planning a memorable Disney vacation

How to Plan Your Disney Vacation

Before you book your flight to the Sunshine State, take your time to do some research to get the best out of your Disney World Vacation. Things have changed since the pandemic, and now you have to consider COVID-19 restrictions on top of the advance hotel and flight reservations. Moreover, you’ll also have to pre-book rides and restaurants if you’re looking to head to the most exclusive attractions. However, if you’re planning to think on your feet and wing it, you should consider adding Universal Studios Orlando to your to-visit list.

Navigating the entire resort, including the theme parks, hotels, waterparks, and endless restaurants is challenging so you need to devise a plan. The first thing you need to do is consider is how long you intend to stay at Disney World and what you can afford. So, get your pencils and some coffee ready, and start exploring the most suitable hotels, restaurants, and rides for yourself, your family, or your friends. Think about what you’re going to eat because most restaurants require at least a 60-days pre-booking. Sure, you can skip this part if you’re more interested in the attractions and not the food.

If you don’t want to overwhelm yourself with so much planning, simply contact Travel N Relax and we will make all your accomodations for you. This will save time and effort, and you can even avail discounted pricing if you travel with a group. Regardless of your choice, think about your budget, the length of your trip, and your absolute must-do things. These details will help you in your decision-making.

Best Time to Visit Disney World

Another important aspect of your Disney vacation planning is to determine the best time to visit by considering your work, school, and other schedules. Most tourists and travelers wait for special events, favorable weather, and minimal crowds. Let’s take a closer look at each factor.

Special Events

There’s a reason Disney World is called the happiest place on earth – there’s always something exciting happening which makes it feel like a party. However, if you’re looking for exclusive events to make your trip more memorable, here are a few notable events to consider when booking your trip:

  • Epcot International Arts Festival (Jan-Feb)
  • Epcot Internation Food & Wine Festival (August- November)
  • Halloween at Walt Disney World Resort (August-October)
  • Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom (November-December)

Disney World weather can greatly affect your trip. While most days are full of sunshine with mild temperatures, some days are better than others. Rain, hurricanes, and tropical storms are quite common in the Sunshine State along with excessive heat reaching into the ‘90s during summer. The good news is that there are certain times of the calendar year when the weather is ideal for tourists – during spring and fall. At this time, the weather is cooler and much dryer. However, during this time, you can expect more crowds so there’s always a compromise to be made.

2021 is a great time to visit Disney world due to fewer crowds. However, you still have to make theme park and hotel reservations since they’re limited in terms of capacity. Even if you don’t, the lines are much smaller than they used to be in 2019. However, with restrictions rapidly lifting, you should choose a Disney vacation package proactively to avoid long wait times and delays. This way, you can focus on your experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the cheapest Disney resort to stay at?
The Art of Animation is one of the most affordable Disney Resorts available currently. If you’re planning to stay at Hollywood Studios, consider the All-Star Movie Resort or Disney’s Pop Century.
  2. What is the most luxurious Disney hotel?
If you’re looking for a luxurious adventure, there’s no better place to stay than the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. It is also the go-to destination for honeymoons and getaways.
  3. What is the best Disney resort for families?
This varies from family to family. For instance, if your kids love water activities, you should consider Disney’s Port Orleans Resort. However, if they love animals, there’s no better place to crash than the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
  4. How can I save money at Disney World?
There are many ways to save money on your trip. The best way is to opt for a free but limited Disney dining plan in which you can choose from your favorite restaurants. To save money on park tickets, you can use your airline points or consider buying discounted tickets from other sources. Many travel companies also offer bundles with discounted pricing.

The Top Benefits of a Destination Wedding

If you’ve started planning your wedding, you probably have a vast range of options available to you in terms of location and setting. Sure, you could stick to the old ways and getting married in your family’s church or a banquet. However, many couples that enjoy traveling are now opting for destination weddings so they can have a smaller, more intimate ceremony and celebration with their friends and loved ones in a new or unique setting.

Sounds expensive and inconvenient? We assure you, it’s not. A destination wedding offers great benefits in terms of cost, customization, and convenience. Keep reading to learn about some of them.

The Top 5 Benefits of a Destination Wedding

1. Simple

Unlike traditional weddings, many resorts and travel venues offer pre-designed wedding packages that include everything from décor to food and entertainment. In this case, the bride and groom only have to make a few decisions, and the rest is taken care of by professional in-house wedding planners.

2. Lower Cost

Contrary to popular belief, destination weddings are relatively less expensive than traditional ones. Many resorts offer all-inclusive or bundled pricing for the venue, food, drinks, and entertainment. Therefore, you’ll only have to pay a single fee for the resort, which will depend on its location, popularity, and quality of services.

3. Convenience

Wedding planning is a stressful and overwhelming task for most brides and grooms, especially professionals who have to manage work along with the weddings plans. By opting for a destination wedding, you can outsource the planning to professionals in a slightly different way. Traditionally, people hire a wedding planner or service to take care of everything from caterers to officiants, musicians, and florists. However, this doesn’t necessarily solve all the management problems. Instead, you can hire a destination wedding travel company with several resorts in different locations around the country that can take care of all these aspects. This way, you can relax and enjoy yourself in a beautiful vacation resort while highly-trained professionals take care of your wedding planning.

4. A Built-In Honeymoon

By opting for a destination wedding, you can kill two birds with one stone and include a honeymoon package. There are hundreds of honeymoon destinations in the US, from Disney Land to Las Vegas, the Colorado Mountain Range, and Hawaii. Instead of paying separately for your honeymoon, why not get married there and stay longer?

5. Avoid Family Drama

Another benefit long-distance weddings offer couples over traditional weddings is family drama and conflict. Weddings can become frustrating when family quarrels and disputes wreak havoc and hurt feelings. No bride or groom wants events like these to ruin the intimacy and importance of their big day. With a destination wedding, you’ll have a relatively smaller crowd, meaning you’ll spend less time and/or money on invitations, interactions, and management.

Type of Destination Wedding Venues

With destination weddings becoming rapidly mainstream around the country, many travel companies and resorts offering unique wedding packages and venues that appeal to different types of couples. Here’s a list of potential venues you can opt for:

  • Beach
  • Garden
  • Gazebo
  • Terrace
  • Mansion
  • Ballroom
  • Pool
  • Cenote
  • Staircase

Planning a Destination Wedding – A Brief Guide

There’s a lot to consider when planning a destination wedding, and it’s not just the type of venue or the location. Some factors you have to consider include the timing of your ceremony, the weather, and the availability of guests. Here are some tips to make the planning process easier:

  • Visit the location in advance (if you can).
  • Give everyone on your guest list an early invitation so they can proactively plan their trip.
  • Factor in additional expenses, such as local transportation, additional lodging, shopping, and parties, etc.
  • Get help from your family or close friends with picking the right package for your wedding.
  • Dress according to the location. For example, if the wedding is in Hawaii, you should switch to your favorite aloha shirt, shorts, and flip-flops.
  • Speak to the décor team regarding special effects, items, or lighting.

COVID-19 and Group Travel 2021 – Everything You Need to Know

The return of in-person meetings and foot traffic is well underway worldwide following the vaccine drives in January 2021. However, COVID-19 remains a risk in group settings, especially with the more contagious Delta variant wreaking havoc around the country and reminding people we’re not out of the woods yet.

In this post, we’ll talk about COVID-19 and group travel in 2021, sharing everything travelers need to know before booking group tours and vacations with their friends or families.

What’s Changed in 2021?

The arrival of 2021 has marked a new chapter for group travel during COVID-19. Many Americans are fully vaccinated, and quarantine requirements have eased down in the last few months stateside and abroad. Now, there are over 100 destinations worldwide that have been marked safe for travel by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As a result, both travel companies and travelers are taking full advantage of returning mobility and booking landmark trips and group tours. However, things are still not like they were back in 2019 and people still need to proceed with precaution due to uncertainty – from fluctuating flight schedules and new travel requirements to new safety guidelines and operational changes at vacation spots.

Let’s check out some of the changes we’ve seen so far in 2021:

Travel Documents and Regulations

Passport renewal services for international group tours during COVID-19 have resumed with potential delays depending on your location. For local tours, most states recommend waiting until you’re fully vaccinated. However, you can still travel as long as you follow the CDC’s recommendations for unvaccinated people along with local regulations and business policies.

Regardless of where you’re going, you still need:

  • To wear a face mask, especially when on planes, buses, trains, airports, and stations.
  • To self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and isolate if you develop some.
  • To self-quarantine, if you’re not fully vaccinated or haven’t contracted the virus yet.
  • To check local, state, or territorial travel restrictions, including testing requirements, and quarantine requirements.

Mode of  Travel

Travel has almost returned to normal, even with the Delta variant slowing the pace down. Experts consider driving to be the safest form of transportation for unvaccinated people, especially if you’re headed to a group vacation destination that’s only a day’s drive away. Flying is also safer than it was back in 2020.

However, airlines require passengers to wear masks onboard and limit onboard movements. Traveling by bus with a group may require extra vigilance, especially if you’re unvaccinated, due to simpler ventilation systems. Since June 2021, several cruise lines have commenced summer operations following new CDC guidelines. In this time, many ships have received major makeovers, and hundreds of companies nationwide are offering private yacht and sailboat group tours at discounted prices.

Hotels and Restaurants

With group travel picking up, hotels and lodges are getting busier while hosting thousands of summer guests with upgraded safety measures, such as extra sanitization and indoor mask requirements. The biggest difference is that group vacations will be more comfortable than last summer, thanks to the peace of mind the global vaccination program has provided. Moreover, eating in restaurants is likely fine, depending on where you’re going and your vaccination status. Many group travel vacations companies have taken extra measures to facilitate customers with the best dining options available.

COVID-19 Group travel Vacationing Tips by Expert Travel Consultants

Traveling with friends, family, or a large group can be stressful, especially with the ongoing health crisis. If you’re planning a long-overdue vacation, you must exercise an abundance of caution when booking group tours in cities, mountain ranges, the countryside, or exotic beaches. Here are some tips from expert travel consultants and advisors:

  1. Pack Cleaning Supplies
While most travel companies will have you sorted, there’s no harm in packing additional COVID-19 protection, such as sanitizers, masks, and small disinfectants, just in case.
  2. Research State and Local Regulations
Public travel and safety regulations vary from state to state so you should research your destination to ensure you’re fully compliant. For example, Colorado has not issued any travel restriction during the Delta variant outbreak for vaccinated people. However, unvaccinated people must quarantine for a specified period.
  3. Review Lodging Policies
No matter which group tour package you’re opting for, don’t forget to inquire about specific policies or requirements to ensure compliance and minimize problems.
  4. Travel in Small, Known Groups
While going on a group vacation is a great way to expand your circle, you should prioritize safety by minimizing exposure and trying to keep the group as small as possible.
  5. Avoid Contact with Others
Even if you’re fully vaccinated, try to avoid contact with others and wash your hands frequently with water and soap every time you do.

The Best Way to Book a Disney Vacation (Especially If It’s Your First Time)

A Disney vacation is magical, but how do you make the most of it? With so many resort options, theme parks, activities, and dining to choose from, trip planning can get overwhelming.

At Travel N Relax, Denver, CO’s top travel agency, we believe every Disney vacation should be the right balance of the things you love. This means excitement for families and kids, rest and relaxation for busy parents, and a touch of fairytale romance for couples.

If you’re planning a Disney getaway, we’re here to help you create the perfect group or family trip. From budget to luxury lodging and experiences, Disney vacations have so many possibilities if done right.

Here are a few reasons to book your Disney vacation with a Disney travel advisor (you may be surprised at what you’d be missing otherwise).

Get insider knowledge:

It’s important to note that not all travel agents are built the same. When booking a Disney vacation, turn to an authorized Disney vacation travel agency like Travel N Relax of Denver. We have vast knowledge and training about Disney destinations and their offerings. Our passion, enthusiasm, and knowledge of Disney mean you get the best vacation package to meet (and often exceed) your expectations.

Plan your perfect Disney itinerary:

You only have a certain amount of time you’ll be away, so the key is to make the most of it. A Disney travel advisor knows the ins and outs of what Disney has to offer and recommends the best places and things to do based on your interests, vacation goals, and budget. There’s no time for trial and error when it comes to a getaway, so plan your perfect itinerary from the start.

Get the best deals:

You can search online for promotions, read countless reviews, and piece your vacation together, but does that guarantee a successful trip? On the other hand, travel advisors have close partnerships and connections to give you the greatest ideas for things to do and access to the best deals. Some options just aren’t available online because airlines and resorts hold them for preferred clients like travel agencies.

Have fun and relax:

If you’re traveling with children, make your Disney vacation feel like a fun escape rather than prison (don’t get stuck only doing the things your kids love). A custom Disney vacation with a travel consultant ensures you get the right balance of theme parks, attractions, excitement, music, rest, spas, and indulgence. Magic comes in many forms at Disney, and a travel agent helps you find it!

Stress-free trip prep:

Disney is a dream come true, but it can seem more like a nightmare if you don’t plan accordingly or don’t know where to begin. An expert travel agent helps arrange the transportation and lodging, plus the little things that may get overlooked, such as dining, attractions, deadlines, theme park tickets, new COVID-19 Disney rules, cancellation policies, and more. So turn to a pro for peace of mind.

Know what to expect:

Disney is always growing and changing, which means attractions are continuously changing as well. A Disney travel planner has the most up-to-date-info to help you plan your trip and ensure reality meets expectations. If you’ve ever been on vacation and found yourself wasting time trying to figure out where to go next or where to buy tickets, you’ll appreciate what a travel agent can do for you.

One point of contact:

The easiest way to book an amazing Disney trip is through a travel agent because you only have one main point of contact who works on your behalf. There’s a lot of research and reservations that go into planning a Disney trip, and one agent can do it all. Additionally, your travel agent can be reached before and during your trip, so you’re never alone in case you have any questions or concerns.

Book a vacation with Denver, Colorado’s best Disney travel agency:

A Disney trip is almost like a child’s rite of passage. It’s magical, memorable, and most of all — family-friendly so both parents and kids can enjoy their time away from home.

With so many Disney locations and options available, planning a trip to the “Happiest Place on Earth” may seem like information overload, especially during COVID-19. But that’s where we come in. Travel N Relax is the area’s top travel agency and we’ve planned thousands of Disney vacations to date. COVID Vaccination and Testing Requirements for Travel (The Basics)

Are you planning a trip and wondering about COVID vaccination and testing requirements for travel? While coronavirus restrictions are being eased and many vacation destinations are opening up for visitors (woo-hoo!), navigating all the new rules and regulations may seem overwhelming.

The good news? We’re here to help.

At Travel N Relax, Denver CO’s top travel agency, we’ll help you understand the basics for new travel requirements during the coronavirus pandemic.

You may be wondering…

“Can I travel during the pandemic?”

Yes, you can travel during the pandemic but must consider several factors, including your destination, health, and vaccination status. Many travel locations are open for visitors, and they have requirements to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Before traveling, be sure to check the conditions at your destination to understand the requirements for entry. Click here to view travel recommendations by destination. The list is continuously updated by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

Some countries are still closed to U.S. tourists or nonessential travelers, but this may change. As countries are closely monitored for infection rates, more people become vaccinated, and additional information about the virus becomes available, the CDC updates the rules for traveling during COVID.

Is a vaccine required for travel?

The CDC recommends that you’re fully vaccinated before traveling internationally or domestically. You should also follow your destination’s requirements for entry, including the state, country, and airline requirements.

Some international locations require U.S. citizens to be fully vaccinated before entering the country.

…But what exactly does that mean?

A person is fully vaccinated 2 weeks after receiving the second dose of a 2-dose vaccine, like Moderna or Pfizer, or 2 weeks after a single dose like Johnson & Johnson. So until you’ve gotten your last vaccine shot and two weeks have passed, you must take extra precautions.

Unvaccinated individuals who must travel should follow the CDC’s recommendations for unvaccinated travelers. This includes social distancing, avoiding crowds, wearing a mask in public spaces, taking additional viral tests, etc.

Depending on the destination, you may be required to show proof of vaccination, take a COVID-19 test, wear a mask, and/or quarantine. To view country-specific rules for entry from the U.S., please visit the U.S. Department of State – Bureau of Consular Affairs website. The site is updated weekly based on data from the World Health Organization.

Do fully vaccinated travelers need to take a COVID-19 test?

Vaccinated travelers may or may not require a negative COVID-19 test, depending on their destination’s entry requirements.

As for returning to the United States from another country…

All airline passengers returning to the U.S., including vaccinated individuals, must have a negative COVID-19 test no more than 3 days before traveling. Alternatively, they can show proof of COVID-19 recovery in the past 3 months.

This negative test or proof of recovery is required before boarding a plane back home and is mandatory for all passengers 2 years and older.

Once home in the U.S., the CDC recommends self-monitoring for symptoms and taking another COVID test 3-5 days after traveling.

Tips for traveling during COVID-19:

Vacations should be enjoyable and relaxing; otherwise, they can start feeling more like work. Luckily, we’ve got a few tips to help ensure a successful and stress-free getaway during the coronavirus pandemic.

  1. Double-check your destination and airline requirements for entry. Do this before booking and several days before departing for your trip to make sure you meet all the requirements.
  2. Have all your documents ready. In addition to the typical passport and tickets, pack your vaccination card and proof of negative test result if needed. Additionally, complete any online forms required by the airline and destination.
  3. Remember that masks are still required in airplanes, airports, and public transportation even if you’re vaccinated. Many places in the U.S. allow vaccinated individuals no-mask entry indoors, but the rules vary depending on where you visit and stay.
  4. Plan your vacation with an experienced travel agent who can help you find the best destination for your goals and budget. A trusted travel advisor can also take care of the little things (activities, cancellation policies, travel insurance, etc.) and help you understand the rules in place for traveling during COVID.

Alaska Awaits

If picturesque coastal mountains, gleaming glaciers, marvelous wildlife, hot natural wonders, and culture-rich lands sound like a place you’d like to explore then we’ve got the place for you, Alaska. The wonders of Alaska are just the tip of the iceberg (no pun intended), half the fun is just in getting there.

There are many ways to experience Alaska, but nothing compares to the up close and personal experience that you can have when traveling via an Alaskan cruise ship. Making your way to the land upon a beautiful ship with crisp 360 views is unlike anything else.

Although COVID caused an abrupt pause to the cruise ship industry (and all of our lives) cruises have now been given the green light to resume travel in 2021. If an Alaskan cruise is not on your bucket list, we recommend that you add it today. Passengers upon any cruise ship can expect new and enhanced COVID-19 protocols for cautious and confident cruising.

Alaskan cruises are one of the most captivating experiences you can have. While all cruise ships can be enjoyable and each offers distinct values, the Alaskan cruises are unparalleled.

Onboard an Alaskan cruise the simple act of observing the majestic mountain and glacier scenery from the comfort of your room, the deck, or while you enjoy an exquisite dinner is enough to leave you in awe and with your jaw on the floor. However, Alaskan cruises have so much more to offer than just a mesmerizing landscape.

There are many cruise lines to select from and all have an assortment of entertainment and activities for all ages so you’ll get to spend your day just as you wish while you voyage to your destination.

Whether you are an adventurer, seeking luxury, a foodie, a sightseer, a trailblazer or even a lovebird on your honeymoon the options available to tailor your perfect trip are endless. You can select from varying itineraries, adventures, and ports of calls.  Once the perfect trip is selected, the only thing to figure out is what to pack.

Packing for a cruise can be a tricky endeavor, but packing for an Alaskan cruise can be a bit more complex due to the range of temperatures that one can encounter within a single day. You will want to make sure to pack all of your essentials and include plenty of comfy and warm clothes that you can casually wear while onboard. Dinner attire will also be necessary and the dining rooms typically call for business casual or cocktail wear. Some staple items should be pieces that you can easily layer, such as a warm vest, a light jacket, and a windbreaker. Those items can easily transition from ship to land and from casual sightseeing to zooming from a zipline. For those who book an action-packed adventure on land, a pair of waterproof hiking boots would also be ideal.  Last but certainly not least, make sure to pack your swimsuit and sunscreen! “A bathing suit?” you ask, yes! Not only do cruise ships offer amazing heated pools but, Alaska also has an abundance of natural hot springs. Hot springs in Alaska sound ironic, but that’s just one of the many surprises this grand land has to offer.

Hot springs are natural pools filled with geothermal mineral waters that are heated by the earth’s crust. They are essentially natural forming hot tubs that you can dip into while surrounded by striking views. How cool is that?!?

There are many hot springs are scattered throughout Alaska, but the most popular is The Chena Hot Springs which is a located approximately 55 miles northeast of Fairbanks. The ride to Chena is known for its beautiful wildlife sightings and moose so it’s recommended to key your eyes peeled so you don’t miss their beauty. The Chena Hot Springs Resort is home to an awesome ice museum and an Instagram-worthy bar where they use glass carved cocktail glasses and is adorned with unbelievable ice chandeliers.

One of the reasons that cruises are so popular is because it gives the feeling of more than one vacation rolled into one.  The cruise ship vacation and the land exploration vacation. However, because of the vast options that Alaska offers it’s like you’re rolling many vacations into one, the options are endless and most of the experiences are unique to Alaska.

Adventure in Alaska awaits. Contact our Denver travel agency to speak with a representative and let them tailor the perfect trip for you. You won’t regret it.

To Bring or Not to Bring, That Is the Question

Many Americans consider their pet an integral part of their family and treat those pets as children, best friends, and even therapists. What happens to the furry members of the family when the human members are planning a vacation? Should they be boarded? Should a pet sitter be hired? Should you leave them with a friend? Can they be left alone? Or, should you bring them along? This is a question that roughly 70% of Americans ask themselves when coordinating the logistics of their travel.

According to a National Pet Owners Survey conducted by the American Pet Products Association (APPA), 85 million families own a pet. We all know that 2020 was a killer for the travel industry. However, the U.S. Travel Association’s Monthly Travel Recovery Data Report shows that travel is back with a vengeance and that nearly nine in ten American travelers are planning to travel in the next six months – a new pandemic high. If you are an individual who owns a pet and is planning to travel by air in the near future, here are some things you might find useful if you are considering bringing along your furry friend.

As the saying goes, different strokes for different folks, the rules for air travel with a pet vary from airline to airline. An apparent rule of thumb for those airlines that do allow pets is that if your pet isn’t carry-on size, they most likely have to travel in the cargo part of the plane. Although, some airlines have temporarily suspended the cargo option due to COVID. Pet policies generally carry breed restrictions and pet travel fees. Typically, the further and more international you go, the steeper the fees get.

Pets That Travel compiled a list of pet-friendly airlines. Browsing through the list might be a good starting point when selecting your airline. You will also find specific requirements such as approved carriers, weight limits, and health certificates needed. One of the most annoying things that you can encounter when flying is arriving at your destination only to find that your luggage has vanished into thin air. Missing luggage is a nuisance that happens way too often.

Now, imagine that your pet needs to travel cargo and that at the time of reuniting you are left wondering their whereabouts—this would be the start of a nightmare vacation. Missing pets on an airline aren’t a common occurrence, but one can never be too safe.  To cover all of your bases in keeping your pet safe whether they are traveling cargo or carry on we recommend that your pet is microchipped. Also, make sure that the contact information attached to your pets’ microchip is up to date. Numerous companies make trackers which can be attached to their carrier or even their collar—you can get these at surprisingly affordable prices. Lastly, concerning your pet’s well-being, you will need to clear your pet for travel, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association acceleration and pressure changes can invoke particular stresses to your pet. If your pet is elderly or ill it is probably not in their best interest to bring them along.

When packing for your trip, make sure you think about your pet as well and don’t leave behind any essentials. You will need to make sure that you have portable handy travel items while on the go as well as items for once you reach your destination. Some staple items to bring along should include a leash—of course, pet waste bags, a collapsible bowl, snacks, and some wee-wee pads.

It is easy to get so consumed with meeting all of the airline requirements that you then neglect to look into the lodging accommodations—don’t forget to do that. Your lodging will not only need to be pet friendly but also must offer the right amenities for you and your pet.

Pro tip: If you will need to be taking your pet out for walks do your due diligence for checking out the area before booking. It’s astonishing what a difference a couple of blocks can make in some towns.

Traveling with your pet can be extremely rewarding and an amazing bonding experience, but if you still have questions about bringing them along or would like help finding the right accommodation contact our Denver travel agency and ask to speak with a representative. We’d love to help you create the purrrfect travel plan.

How To Plan a Destination Wedding

Are you and your fiance considering a destination wedding but don’t know quite where to start? The truth is a destination wedding, when done right, can be a dream come true.  The alternative (when you don’t know the ins and outs of planning an event plus travel) can turn into a nightmare!

So, let our team at Travel N Relax, based in Denver, walk you through the process, starting with the basics.

What is a destination wedding?

A destination wedding is a celebration of marriage in a location outside of the couple’s hometown that requires travel. While you may automatically get an image of a beachside wedding on an island or a ceremony in a fairytale town outside of the country, destination weddings can really be held just about anywhere.

Spoiler alert: it’s your wedding, so you get to choose just about any place you desire! Love the beach? Then get married in a tropical location. Love the snow? Celebrate a love-filled winter wonderland in the mountains.

How do you plan a destination wedding?

Planning a destination wedding isn’t exactly one-size-fits-all. After all, each couple is unique, and so are their desires. But there is one thing all destination weddings do have in common: celebrating a lifetime union in a fun, unique, and memorable way.

By working with a professional destination wedding planner, you’ll get the best connections to venues and travel, along with our years of experience in successfully planning and managing destination weddings.

From small intimate celebrations to large gatherings, we make it simple:

  • Step 1: You fill out a detailed questionnaire to help us understand your vision.
  • Step 2: Our planners gather the best options for your review.
  • Step 3: We schedule a meeting to go over the details of your destination wedding.
  • Step 4: Sit back and relax; we do the planning for you and provide a timeline, so you know exactly what to expect.

While a beautiful destination wedding may feel like magic, it doesn’t happen by accident. There’s a lot of research, planning, and budgeting involved – and that’s where we come in!

By working with the area’s most experienced destination wedding planner, you’ll get access to the best ideas, connections, and deals. And instead of stressing and worrying about the wedding day, you can truly enjoy your special day! (After all, you only get one like it!)

Are destination weddings more expensive than traditional ones?

A destination wedding is typically less expensive than a traditional wedding and reception. The cost of your destination wedding depends on several factors, including the location, size, entertainment, and activities.

We’ll go over this in detail and help you set your wedding goals and budget to determine the total costs involved.

Do you pay for guests at a destination wedding?

Just like with a traditional wedding, the bride and groom are expected to pay for the reception and wedding festivities, including food and drink at the wedding.

As for paying for your guests’ travel and accommodations, this is totally up to you, but you are not expected to pay for your guests’ flights or hotels. As a courtesy, you should provide your guests with discounted hotel rates when you book a hotel block (and we’ll help you do this).

Having your guests pay for their participation in your wedding is completely normal, and a well-designed invitation that gives all the details far in advance lets your guests plan accordingly.
